About Petro’s Jewelers
Petro’s Jewelers History
Mike Petro started in the jewelry business as a junior in High school in Elmira, New York in 1971. He worked part time for Zale’s Jewelers as a sales clerk where he found himself becoming fascinated with jewelry and diamonds. Throughout the following seven years he apprenticed as a goldsmith and stone setter and in 1978 moved to Williamsport, PA. During this time, he opened his own jewelry manufacturing/ repair business, which serviced over 27 jewelers in the area, completing 10,000 repairs per year.
In July of 1985, Mike opened the retail store Petro’s Jeweler’s in the Basin Street Shopping Center. After three expansions, Petro’s is now at its current size, but continues to grow and build on customer satisfaction. Petro’s staff consists of both full and part time employees that have over 130 years of experience in the jewelry business.
As part of an elite few, Mike is a GIA gemologist, while other staff members have graduated with diamond grading certifications. Even today, Petro’s prides itself on creating handcrafted jewelry, as well as traditional styles that are both beautiful and affordable.
